If you’re ever thinking about the best places in Europe to eat then you have to think about Barcelona. The city has it all: culture, beaches, beauty, nightlife and the all-important tapas restaurants. Sangria delightfully goes hand in hand when eating tapas too.
There are so many dishes to choose from it can be difficult to decide what to eat without ordering the whole menu. If you haven’t had tapas before I would suggest trying the patatas bravas, lemon chicken and the bacon-wrapped dates. The thing about tapas is, it’s light, social and goes well with wine/sangria.
There are so many tapas bars to try in Barcelona but we recommend the Casa de Tapas Cañota which is located near the port. This place is excellent as it serves a variety of sea dishes including Galician octopus, fried fish, ensaladilla rusa, draught beer and great wines. The restaurant is relaxed, laid back and fun that’s perfect for a meal with friends or family or a great pre theatre before an event at the razzmatazz club for example.
Here’s a great recipe for a tapas classic – Spanish tapas.
575g russet potatoes, peeled, thinly sliced
2 tbsp olive oil
1/2 large onion, thinly sliced
Salt and freshly cracked black pepper
115g dry Spanish chorizo or salami, sliced
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
3 onions, chopped
100g grated Cheddar cheese
When visiting Barcelona, don’t leave without a proper tapas experience.
